Clearly I have lived up to the usual expectation surrounding new year’s resolutions (that is, that no one ever sticks with them), seeing as I haven’t blogged in almost 5 months. I swear I’ve started a few things and have had my typical flighty inspirational ideas floating through my brain, but I guess life has just happened. Hopefully in the second half of this year I will find myself logging into my WordPress account just a tad bit more.
Just like this year flying by, so has this week! Snaps for four day weeks, they’re another one of my “favs.” I’ve always enjoyed putting together Friday Favorites posts, so this seemed fitting for a post topic following a temporary blogging hiatus.
TOO FACED Better Than Sex Mascara
Let me just tell you, this stuff may just live up to its name. Since I haven’t had eyelash extensions since February, I have found myself disappointed when looking in the mirror and no longer seeing dramatic lashes. My best friend from college (who has even better taste than me) recommended this mascara, so I bought it and have never looked back. It adds volume and length to your lashes without clumping or looking like you applied ten coats. I can say with confidence that it is the best mascara I’ve ever purchased.
BECCA x Jaclyn Hill
Pressed Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop
As if the name isn’t perfect enough, this product is my favorite part of my daily makeup routine. I’ve been using it for almost a year and get a ton of compliments on it. It does wonders for your cheek bones and complements both dressed up and dressed down looks. This highlighter has a soft white gold color with peach undertones. It wasn’t shocking when this product was selling out in Sephora stores everywhere last year, and I was beyond thrilled when they made it a permanent product in the BECCA collection. I also highly recommend BECCA’s One Perfecting Brush for the application. It is a little pricey at $50 for a makeup brush, but I think it’s worth it.
Ellie Goulding Delirium
Although it was released last November, this album is definitely still relevant. I bought it months ago, yes a real, hold in your hands, CD from Target (I know, who does that anymore). I casually listened to the album in its entirety a few times leading up to her Delirium tour when she came to Pittsburgh. After having a phenomenal time and being completely blown away by the artist she is, I have listened to every song a painstakingly number of times since. She is a kickass, talented woman, who is most certainly underrated, like I’d want to be besties with her. My favorite tracks are Aftertaste, Lost and Found, and Codes. I will be highly anticipating her next album and will definitely attend her show the next time she stops in Pittsburgh.
La Croix Flavored Sparkling Water
I used to drink a disgusting amount of diet soda in college. In fact, my roommate and I just laughed a few weeks ago over dinner recollecting on how ridiculous it was. I’m actually surprised I don’t have a hole in my stomach, or I haven’t sprouted a third arm yet from all the aspartame – ew, gross. I honestly was just a fan of the carbonation and found it helpful during long hours spent studying for exams or writing my thesis. With one of my recent health kicks I decided to give sparkling water a try, since it offered the bubbly carbonation I once pined for. Let’s be real though, sparkling water is a lot more bearable with some fresh fruit to give it some flavor, but who has time for all of that? After passing all the pretty packages in a target isle, I decided to give La Croix a try. I played it safe at first, only trying lemon, but after my first can I was hooked! This sparkling water advertises no calories and no artificial sweeteners – perfect, right? Some of my favorite flavors are lime, cerise limón, cran-raspberry, and piña fraise.
Strong Looks Better Naked – Khloe Kardashian
Say what you will about the Kardashians, but I’m a total Koko fan. I think she’s super real, which I appreciate. To me, she represents everything a woman should strive to be: beautiful, strong, powerful, and independent. In this book, she focuses on how she has developed personally in three areas, body, heart, and mind. The book was released in November and I read it in late January, but still find myself recalling specific things she said in each of these three sections when I’m doing some self-reflection.
For my upcoming move, I’ve been trying to be honest with myself and truly free myself from items I’ll never use or never wear. I mean I have three pair of True Religion jeans that probably won’t fit past my knees and a few velour Juicy Couture purses that will never see the light of day again. But how could I just get rid of them? These were once cherished staples of my wardrobe. A friend of mine recommended selling things on Poshmark. It is a completely free app to sell gently used designer items. The whole process is super easy, you just upload pictures, a description, and pick a price. Once a product sells, you receive an email with a printable shipping label. Shipping is priority mail, and the labels can be placed on pretty much any type of packaging. I leave the packages on my porch and set up pickups through my post office online. It is basically dummy-proof and super easy! Once the buyer receives the product as it is described, they rate the item, and the money is credited to your account. After accruing sales, you can choose a direct deposit from Poshmark, or they will cut a check in your name. I wasn’t expecting to make a bundle with this app, but I can sleep a little easier at night knowing I got a little something back, while getting rid of things I will never use again.
While June (my birthday month! =D) seems like it will be one of the busiest ones yet, I hope to consistently share more of my summer jaunts, crazy dreams, and favorite pretty little things with my [small] fan base. Thanks for reading, cheers to the freaking weekend, let’s go have some fun.
